LATEST DEVELOPMENT

🖥️ Microsoft Edge Gets an AI Upgrade with New ‘Copilot Mode’

Microsoft has officially turned its Edge browser into an AI-powered assistant with the launch of Copilot Mode, now available in preview for all PC and Mac users with Copilot access.

Copilot Mode transforms how users interact with the web by offering AI support that can:

  • 🔍 Summarize or simplify webpages (e.g. turn a long recipe into steps — or even veganize it)

  • ✍️ Draft content, book appointments, or create shopping lists

  • 🗣️ Take voice input for hands-free interaction

  • 🧠 Act as a research assistant, scanning open tabs (with permission) to compare flights, hotels, or prices

The vision: make web browsing agentic — where the AI not only understands what you're doing but also helps you take action.

Microsoft says the feature is experimental and opt-in, with visual cues for transparency when Copilot is accessing your browsing activity.

Why it matters: As the race for AI-powered browsers heats up, Edge is positioning itself as more than a search tool — it’s a digital co-pilot for your day-to-day tasks. Whether that’s useful or overkill will depend on how seamlessly Copilot can anticipate your needs without slowing you down.

🛍️ Google Chrome Adds AI Store Summaries to Help You Shop Smarter

Google is making shopping in Chrome more intelligent with a new feature that delivers AI-generated store reviews right in the browser. Rolling out to U.S. desktop users, this tool offers quick summaries about a site’s product quality, pricing, shipping, customer service, and return policies — all in one click.

You’ll find the new feature by clicking an icon to the left of the URL bar. The summaries pull from trusted partners like Trustpilot, Yotpo, Reseller Ratings, Bazaarvoice, and more.

🛒 Why it matters:
This move brings Chrome in line with AI shopping features from Amazon, while helping users make safer, faster buying decisions. It's part of Google’s broader push to evolve Chrome from a search gateway into a full-on AI-powered shopping assistant.

With competition from newer AI browsers like Perplexity’s Comet and The Browser Company’s Dia, Google is now racing to reimagine Chrome for the AI-first era — starting with smarter, simpler shopping.

⚙️ Tesla Signs $16.5B Deal with Samsung to Power Its AI Ambitions

Tesla has inked a massive $16.5 billion deal with Samsung to manufacture its next-gen AI6 chips, designed to fuel everything from Full Self-Driving (FSD) to Optimus robots and high-performance AI training in data centers.

The chips will be produced at Samsung’s new Texas fab, with Tesla assisting to maximize manufacturing efficiency — a rare collaborative move in chip production.

Tesla’s chip roadmap now includes:

  • AI4 — already produced by Samsung

  • AI5 — recently completed with TSMC (Taiwan & Arizona)

  • AI6 — Samsung-exclusive, for Tesla’s all-in-one AI strategy

📈 Why it matters:
This marks a major leap in Tesla’s transition from EV maker to full-stack AI powerhouse. Musk even hinted that spending could exceed the $16.5B mark, calling the partnership key to scaling Tesla’s AI future — on roads, in factories, and beyond.
