🤖 Google Launches Gemini CLI: An AI Coding Agent for the Terminal

Google is bringing its Gemini AI models closer to where developers work with the launch of Gemini CLI — a new agentic AI tool that runs directly in the terminal.

Unveiled on Wednesday,  and responds to natural language prompts. Developers can use it to explain code, debug issues, generate new features, or run commands — all without leaving the command line. It also supports broader tasks like creating videos with Veo 3, querying external databases, or generating research reports using Deep Research.

Gemini CLI is Google’s latest attempt to win over developers from rivals like OpenAI’s Codex CLI and Anthropic’s Claude Code. To boost adoption, Google is open-sourcing the tool under the Apache 2.0 license and offering generous usage limits: up to 1,000 requests per day for free.

While powerful, AI coding tools still come with risks. A 2024 Stack Overflow survey found that only 43% of developers trust the accuracy of AI-generated code — a reminder that, for now, copilots still need copilots.

💼 Bernie Sanders Says AI Productivity Should Mean a 4-Day Workweek

As tech companies tout how AI boosts productivity, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is asking: shouldn’t workers benefit too?

In a recent interview with Joe Rogan, Sanders argued that time saved by AI should go back to employees — not just corporate profit margins. “Your productivity is increasing because we give you AI, right?” he said. “Instead of throwing you out on the street, I’m gonna reduce your workweek to 32 hours.

Sanders pointed to global pilot programs that have tested four-day workweeks with success. In the UK, a major 2022 trial saw 61 companies report stable revenue and happier employees. Kickstarter has operated on a four-day schedule since 2021, and Microsoft Japan’s own trial led to a 40% productivity boost.

The senator’s message to Big Tech: if AI really is transformative, let that transformation start with giving workers more time for life beyond work.

🤖 Claude Now Lets You Build and Share AI-Powered Apps

Anthropic just rolled out a major upgrade to its Claude app: developers can now build, host, and share interactive AI apps—all directly within Claude, with zero backend hassle.

Here’s how it works: Claude generates full-code “artifacts” that act like apps. Users interact with your app via their own Claude accounts, and their usage counts against their subscription, not yours. That means you don’t pay for API calls or need to manage API keys. No server setup. No deployment stress.

Early users are already building:

🧠 AI tutors that adjust to learning styles

🎮 Narrative games with memory-rich NPCs

📊 CSV analysis tools that accept natural language queries

📝 Writing assistants for scripts, docs, and technical writing

🤖 Multi-agent workflows using chained Claude calls

You can build apps by simply describing what you want. Claude will write the code, refine it through conversation, and share a working link instantly. You can fork and customize other users’ apps too.

 Currently limited to:

  • Text-only completion APIs

  • No external API calls or long-term memory (yet)

  • Built-in React UI generation, but no persistent storage

It’s an early but bold move toward democratizing AI app development—without the DevOps overhead.
